LOFAR-UK is a consortium of more than fifteen UK scientific/academic institutions, with the goal of joining the LOFAR project by siting antennae stations in the UK and transporting the data for correlation in the Netherlands via high-speed internet. LOFAR-UK has generated an extremely broad interest, far beyond the traditional radio astronomy groups, and has raised sufficient funds to purchase an initial LOFAR station for siting in the UK (at Chilbolton).
